The Wharton Social Impact Initiative (WSII) Speaker Series is starting up again to engage students, staff, faculty, executives, and others interested in social impact. Topics covered in the series have ranged from social entrepreneurship and enterprise, to community engagement, to philanthropy. Past speakers include: Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Andre Agassi, and Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
I had the pleasure of attending an event last year with Andre Agassi and Bobby Turner at which they discussed Agassi’s experiences, successes, and challenges with the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education and the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy—his first charter school. Our report on teaching quality covers charter schools at length—such as a primer on charter schools to a case study on an alternative charter school model—so that donors can learn how to invest and get the most bang for buck.
